Hello good to have you here, thanks for visiting our blog we appreciate your comments and contributions fam. The topic for today is creating a subdomain that is how we can create a subdomain.

In doing this, it is very important we understand what a subdomain is all about: Subdomain, therefore, is a smaller part of a large can also be referred to as child domain(not the child you know lol)better explained, a subdomain is what replaces the www section of your primary domain for example if your primary domain is your subdomain letters here will be this means the www has been replaced and now

However, to create a subdomain, your c-panel will ask for the name you wish to use. Please kindly ensure that the subdomain name you want to give doesn’t have a folder already named that name. If there is a folder with the same name you want to give the subdomain, the subdomain will not work. Take for instance I want to create the subdomain, which means my sub name is going to be Philo if I already have a folder ftp named Philo. I will have to either delete it or rename it to something different entirely before  I can create a subdomain with Philo name from the c-panel. (guess its quite simple? Smiles)

So, now that I understand what a subdomain is all about HOW DO I CREATE ONE? Simple!!! Just follow these steps:

  • Log into c-panel
  • In the domain section, click on the subdomain icon
  • In the subdomain field, select the name of the subdomain you wish to use .for example if you choose a blog, your subdomain will be blog
  • In the adjacent drop-down menu, select the domain for which you wish to create this subdomain you may create a subdomain for any addon domain or parked domain that already existed in your c-panel.
  • Click on the document Root field and it should automatically populate with a suggested location from which subdomain will load its contents. For instance, if you choose blog ’’as your new subdomain, then the document Root field will populate with public HTML/blog. Simply put, this means that the new subdomain will load its content from the other folder named blog from within the public HTML directory.
  • Lastly, once all the three fields are set, simply click create to complete the creation of your new subdomain…..Gbam!!! that’s all for today blog fam hope we enjoyed reading and as well understanding subdomain and how it can be created following the aforementioned so, kindly drop your comments and contributions via the comments section see ya
